As a nurse you build rapport with patients and tend to their emotional as well as physical needs. You also know how to manage your own emotions in stressful or dangerous situation.
Sales have an emotional component. Yes, you are selling your services to attorneys. People buy based on emotion and justify with logic. Your being able to manage the conflicting and often evolving emotions of clients makes clients feel safe and supported. (Yes, even lawyers need that). Managing your own emotions well will keep you balanced as the challenges of self-employment pop up. You can stay calm and in control in the most challenging business situations.
Nurse entrepreneurs have advanced communication skills
As a nurse, you communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of people from colleagues to police to patients & families in a clear, comforting way that shares critical information. You know how to talk to each person so they hear and understand.
Miscommunication is rampant in business dealings. In fact, if you and your client don’t have a ‘meeting of the minds’ there is no contract. The fact that you know how to make yourself understood and communicate in a compassionate way will be your secret weapon as an entrepreneur.
Nurse entrepreneurs are responsible and dedicated to serving
As a nurse, you know that your actions impact others dramatically; you take the responsibility to heart. You are always there like a safety net keeping your clients from harm.
Your commitment to excellence is what brings clients back to you again and again. Nurse entrepreneurs succeed because of the qualities that make us great.
