For an LNC Business, LinkedIn is hands-down the premier platform on which you should spend time. Develop your profile and check out people and groups in pursuit of your LNC online networking.
The LinkedIn community consists of recruiters looking to find job candidates; CEOs trying to increase their influence and build trust; and solopreneurs seeking an opportunity to grow their online networking. Online networking is crucial in growing your business as there are no more ‘live’ opportunities to network for who knows how long.
That is why you have to think of ways to get yourself known. For the LNC professional, LinkedIn is the answer. Growing your network steadily and consistently makes good business sense.
Take this professional advice:
1. Nobody likes a spammer.
Do not jump in and blast random LinkedIn users with your connection requests. Instead, have a strategy to approach people in a better way. Take the time to actually read the profiles of people and notice how they are managing LinkedIn for networking. Reach out only to people who you find interesting and have a true connection (no pun intended) with.
2. Don’t use people just for introductions.
When someone accepts your connection, truly get to know them and their business. Until you have established an LNC online networking relationship with a person, you should never ask for introductions to their network. People are protective of their networks and are most likely to be careful in an introduction until you have shown what an asset you are in the same or similar niche.
After all, it is their reputation at risk if you ask for an introduction and it does not go well. Building relationships go two ways.
3. Remember the Golden Rule: Treat others as you want to be treated.
Connect with others who have a common interest or whose services may complement yours. A personalized connection request makes a big difference. Before you accept someone’s request to connect, read their profile and make sure it is the right fit for you. You are known by the company you keep. Don’t risk your reputation by being associated with a person who doesn’t align with your mission and belief system.
4. Allow time to build a relationship as you build your LNC online network.
This takes diligence and patience. Be natural. Authentic. Do not pitch yourself without being asked or coming off as sales-y. Over time, you will be remembered for being authentic and helpful.
5. Provide value to others.
One way to showcase your expertise is to share consistently. Write articles, participate, ask questions and share about yourself when asked. Done consistently, this type of sharing will keep you on people’s minds. You never know who they know that needs your services.
LinkedIn LNC online networking comes down to common sense. Act professionally, portray your business in the best way you can, being authentic and honest in your interactions.
Your ideal clients will be drawn to YOU once they know you as a person instead of a salesperson.
