Procrastination is the enemy! Putting things off is one of the worst things you can do when you’re trying to be productive. But procrastination is one of the most common reasons people don’t accomplish as much in building their business.
Mindset matters. So, if you suffer from a procrastination habit, you’re not going to reach your goals.
Here are things you can do to get back on track and improve your productivity.
What’s the source of your procrastination?
The first thing you need to do is identify the problem. There are many reasons that you might find yourself in this predicament.
- Are you sure if you have the skills to be a successful LNC?
- Do you feel overwhelmed by building your LNC business?
- It could be you think attorneys are not working with LNCs now.
If you aren’t sure of your skills, look for subcontracting jobs with a mentor who is willing to train you. Attend our LNC Success conference on March 4, 5, and 6, 2021 to increase your knowledge. Click on the previous sentence to go to the conference page.
Overwhelm is best handled, I’ve found, by tackling small pieces of the puzzle, bit by bit.
It is tempting to be paralyzed by the headlines, the fear of covid, the fear of not being able to get new cases.
Attorneys are in business, getting new clients, and contacting LNCs for help.
Understanding the reason for your procrastination can help you to get a handle on it. For example, if you have a big project that’s paralyzing you, it can help to break it up into smaller pieces. When you can attack a little at a time, you won’t feel the need to put it off and you can build momentum.
Develop Accountability
If you tend to put off tasks, it can help to have an accountability partner. This could be a coworker or even a friend if you work alone that you report to at the end of each day.

First Complete the Least Desirable Tasks
If you’ve been putting off tasks because you dread them it’s good to just get those done first. This frees you from having to think about them anymore and gets them off your to-do list.
Get Rid of Distractions
If you’re already having trouble with procrastination, distractions like social media, email, and your cell phone can give you too many easy excuses to avoid work. Turn off your phone, close your email window, and block social media so that you can get things done without distraction.
Pat Yourself on the Back
When you do get something done that you’re tempted to put off, make sure to give yourself a pat on the back. Give yourself a few minutes to take a break and relax. Then get back to work with a refreshed attitude and sense of accomplishment.
Procrastination has a powerful influence on your mindset. To have a successful LNC business, you can’t afford to give procrastination the upper hand. Set deadlines and meet them. Hold yourself accountable and recognize what’s really going on when you find yourself putting things off.
Remember, procrastination is the enemy of your LNC successful mindset.
