Have you ever thought that writing a book could grow your legal nurse consulting business?
Writing a book might seem like a Herculean task but it can provide impressive results for the growth of your business with minimal effort on your part. These are just five ways you can grow your business by writing a book.
1. Expand Your Expertise
The fact that you’ve written a book on a subject makes you an expert in the field as far as most attorneys are concerned.
My first book, Nursing Process and Nursing Diagnosis, which I coauthored ith Barbara Taptich and Donna Bernocchi-Losey, established my credibility. It led to many opportunities to offer opinions as a medical surgical expert witness. I testified for 20 years. The effort to write that book paid off many thousands of times over.
But the value of writing a book goes deeper than that. In the process of researching and writing your book, you become an expert in your field. You’ve put in the time doing research, expanding your knowledge, and breaking it down into digestible information you share with your readers. That will draw more clients to you as a legal nurse consultant.
2. Gain New Clients, Followers, and Subscribers
There is a certain amount of prestige that goes along with writing a book. You will gain a great deal of respect within the legal community simply for having a book available in the marketplace.
This respect leads to new social media followers, email subscribers, and paying clients who need the invaluable services you provide. It all started with a blank page you filled with possibilities for yourself and your future clients.
3. Increased Opportunities for Exposure
Exposure comes in many forms. When you write a book, you get even more exposure on multiple fronts. In addition to a wide range of accolades from the book itself, you have the opportunity to tell your story to an even wider audience through:
- Presentations at attorney conferences
- Interviews
- Book signings
These are just the beginning. Once you’ve settled into life after the first book, you might even want to consider increasing your exposure by working on a follow-up book, granting interviews, or booking speaking engagements.
4. A lasting tangible asset
Who will the attorney remember as he or she collects information in an exhibit area? The LNC who hands him a brochure and business card or the LNC who hands hi the book the LNC wrote? People throw away business cards but they think twice before throwing away a book. Because so few legal nurse consultants write books, your book will stand out.
5. Profits from Book Sales
Financial gains from book sales involve money you can then reinvest into your business fueling growth. Not only can you buy better exposure on the World Wide Web, you can hire people to help you do the tedious things that tie up your time and take your time away from the aspects of your business you are most passionate about.
Leveraging your time and talents this way alone makes writing a book well worth the time and effort it took to get it written and ready to go.
