Have you heard of the term ‘committed to excellence’? Have you thought about what it means?
Excellence Defined
The following quote is from Aristotle and defines excellence:
“Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”
Immediately you can see that excellence is a habit, and you can form any habit. (Some of us are dealing with overeating, a pandemic habit.) The best way to create a new habit is by setting yourself new goals and creating a plan of attack. Let’s see how you can do this. Helping your legal nurse consulting business involves some simple, actionable steps that you can put into place.
Get into the habit of demanding more from yourself than others demand of you.
Strive to do your best every day.
Do you deliver excellence?
Or, do you put only a little effort that for your clients?
It’s not about asking you to be perfect; that is not feasible. But I am suggesting that you are accountable for your actions. This is how you commit to excellence and get repeat business from attorneys.
You can easily please your attorney clients by doing any of the following:
- Giving more value
- Carefully proofreading your work product
- Over delivering
- Finishing the work ahead of schedule
Keeping these in mind, you do have choices for how to commit to excellence with your business. These choices matter immensely.
Deliver your best in all cases, always focusing on the quality.
Another way to improve your business through excellence is by portraying a professional image. Are your website, business cards, and letterhead up to date? If not, improve them. They reflect your branding. The business image you portray online is going to define the perception of excellence people see in you.
When you own a mistake, you won’t be making excuses, which is a quality trait of integrity and excellence. If you were late for an appointment, don’t come up with a ridiculous excuse. Tell the other person why you were late, apologize for not calling to let them know.
It is so easy to blame outside influences for mistakes or oversights. While no one can control one hundred percent of what happens, you can control how you respond to certain situations.
Customer service is another area where you can offer excellence. By delivering quality customer service to your clients, you can easily provide excellence.
If you want to excel in your life and business, you can start putting forth the best effort. If you do this consistently, you will have an air of excellence.
Focus on your passion for your business. Over time, this is the easiest way to develop excellence in your business.
