11 Years, 700+ Episodes: What Legal Nurse Podcast Taught Me

On September 6, 2016, I hit publish on the first episode of what would become Legal Nurse Podcast. I remember how daunting the technology felt back then. A business coach I’d hired walked me through the steps, piece by piece, and I honestly wasn’t sure anyone would listen.

Eleven years and more than 700 episodes later, I have an answer. We’ve had listeners in 115 countries, with the greatest concentration in the U.S., Australia, Japan, Canada, England and Germany.

How It Started

In 2016, I began hearing about podcasts as a new way of reaching people. After attending a few podcast conferences in New Jersey and in Florida, I decided to give this a try. The early version of this podcast looked nothing like it does now.

I released two episodes a week: an interview on Monday, then a monologue two days later built around the same topic, so listeners got the guest’s perspective and mine. My cohost Kelly Campbell joined me for about a year, bringing her own ideas and guests to the table.

At first, I recorded the shows on Zoom and released the audio version only. Then, one day it hit me that I could add the video to YouTube while sharing the audio files on other platforms.

What Changed Along the Way

In July 2020, Barbara Levin and I started planning what would eventually become the LNC Success Online Conferences. The 14^th Conference is this week, September 9-11, 2026. Once that partnership took shape, I dropped back to one episode a week. Barbara has been part of the show when we co-host an episode together.

What Never Changed

The goal has stayed the same since episode one: teach first. Every interview, every solo episode, every conversation with an attorney, a physician, or a fellow LNC has been in service of one thing — helping legal nurse consultants build businesses that actually work.

What tells me it’s working isn’t a download number. It’s hearing from listeners about when they tune in: on a walk, driving to a deposition, cleaning the house, working out. This show has become part of people’s routines, not just something they check once.

When LNCs come up to me at conferences and tell me how much they’ve learned from my show, it makes all of the steps and work of a weekly podcast worthwhile.
