When Lives are Ruined in Minutes | Samuel Davis Esq & Pat Iyer MSN RN LNCC

Pat Iyer

A healthy 28-year-old woman walks into a hospital on July 20, 2020, to have her first baby. Five months later, she is wheeled out of the hospital to a rehabilitation facility. In the space of about 30 minutes while in the delivery room, her condition deteriorates before the emergency c-section, and she suffers an anoxic brain injury. She will never walk, talk, bathe or feed herself again. Her child will grow up without a mother, and her fiancé will never be able to marry her as planned and have a normal life.

This session is presented by the legal nurse consultant and plaintiff attorney whose efforts led to uncovering institutional failures, attempts to destroy evidence, communication failures, incompetence, unchecked bullying behavior, deceitful behavior, and altered medical records. You will discover how their teamwork led to the end result of settling the case. The anesthesiologist, anesthesia group and hospital all contributed to the settlement.
