Patricia Iyer MSN RN LNCC is president of Patricia Iyer Associates and Med League. She has been reviewing handwritten and computerized documentation since 1987. Patricia reviewed nursing malpractice cases for 20 years and testified as an expert witness. She current summarizes records and testifies about pain and suffering. Patricia is editor, author or coauthor of more than 195 books, chapters, case studies, online courses, and articles. She is a sought after speaker at conferences for attorneys, legal nurse consultants, paralegals and healthcare practitioners. Patricia is the author of a chapter on computerized medical records in Patricia Iyer and Barbara Levin (Editors), Medical Legal Aspects of Medical Records, Second Edition, 2010.
Patricia is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Nursing. She is the past president of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants, the chief editor of the second edition of Principles and Practices of Legal Nurse Consulting, and the chief editor of AALNC’s online legal nurse consulting course (first edition). She has planned and participated in over 100 hours of teleseminars and webinars since 2008.
Lee Houston, RN, BSN is a legal nurse consultant in North Carolina. He is an emergency department expert witness, legal nurse consultant and clinician who works as a hemophilia nurse for Hemophilia Preferred Care, LLC. Without formal technology training, Lee has mastered several cutting edge strategies to accurately and efficiently review medical records.
Lee is a graduate of Itawamba Community College, Fulton, MS (Associates of Science, Nursing), Regis University, Denver, CO (Bachelors of Science in Nursing), Davidson County Community College, Lexington, NC (Legal Nurse Consultant Certificate Program), and of the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Law Enforcement Training Academy, Jackson, MS. Following a career in emergency medicine, critical care, and law enforcement at world-class facilities (Duke University Health System, Baptist Memorial Hospital, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics) he founded Emergency Legal Nurse Consulting, PLLC. Since its founding, Lee has spoken in multiple education venues on the abilities of Legal Nurse Consulting and focuses his education presentations on the awareness of medical malpractice to healthcare providers. Lee currently works with toxic tort litigation groups and individual attorney firms as a LNC.
